Collett's
& the Woodland Trust |
 |
|
| |
| We
acknowledge that travelling can impact on the environment. So, in October
2007 we became a Corporate Partner of the Woodland Trust as part of a
wider company strategy to protect the environment. Over the next 12 months
we aim to raise over £20,000 for the trust by donating £5
for every person who comes on a Collett's holiday. This will equate to
the planting and management of over 4000 broadleaf trees in the UK. |

The
Woodland Trust is the UK's leading conservation charity with a mission
to protect Britain's native woodland. It manages 20,000 hectares of woods
on 1100 different sites, of which 110 are Sites of Special Scientific
Interest, our finest wildlife habitats. All sites meet the Forest Stewardship
Council's UK Standard of Sustainable Forestry. |

It is also
the 'engine room' of woodland creation and is responsible for
3200 hectares of new native woodland. Founded in 1972, it has
planted over eight million native trees. Since 2000 alone, its
'Woods on your Doorstep' project has established 200 new community
woods. In the Trossachs of Scotland it is creating one of the
country's largest broadleaved woods. Its current 'Tree For All'
campaign aims to engage one million children in planting 12 million
trees over five years. So far it has engaged more than half a
million young people in planting over three million trees. |

This highlights
the Woodland Trust's commitment to improve the lives of millions
of people by providing better access and understanding of our
woods especially amongst children. It is now dedicated to doubling
our woodland by planting millions of broadleaf trees over 5000
hectares so that we all have extensive woodland within 4kms of
home. |

us make a difference |
 |
| We
are delighted to be involved with the preservation and management
of the UK's ancient, new and future woodland heritage with its
positive connotations for the environment and the quality of our
lives, whilst also helping to off-set the environmental impact
of travelling. Trees are crucial to life on our planet. They generate
oxygen, store carbon, stabilise the soil, provide homes to wildlife
and make stunning landscapes, which we can all enjoy. Since the
1930's the UK has seen more than 50% of what remained of our ancient
woods destroyed by conifer plantation, urbanisation and intensive
agriculture. Today only 2% remains intact, yet this is still under
threat. We are at the bottom of the European table for woodland
cover with less than 8% remaining, compared to an average of 46%.

|
Collett's
has chosen actively to support the Woodland Trust and we believe
most people who consider a Collett's mountain holiday would embrace
its work. We aim to raise over £20,000 within the next 12
months. This would result in the planting and management of over
4000 broadleaf trees. Our pledge is to donate £5 to the
trust for every person who comes on a holiday with Collett's.
During the holiday booking process, we will invite you to match
our donation, although there will be no obligation on your part. |
|
 |
Either way, when booking with Collett's,
you will help the Woodland Trust protect our woods, plant more trees and
make a difference to the environment. We thank you in advance for any
support you might give us and we promise to keep you updated on our progress
on our website and in future brochures. |
