Free Airport Transfers
Venice Marco Polo & Venice Treviso
How it works
This is not a personal taxi service and waiting can be unavoidable.
Please do not book a transfer unless you are relaxed about the possibility of waiting.
We can arrange car hire or taxi transport for you if you would prefer to eliminate the possibility of waiting.
Transfer Times – We will contact you 10 days before your holiday with the times of your transfers. These are determined by the flight times and party sizes of everyone we collect on that day. With a coach (often two) and three minibuses, we try to keep waiting to a minimum. The system generally works well – especially if, where possible, people land in Venice or Treviso late morning or later – but not after 5pm please. Usually our first batch of pick-ups are at about lunch time (occasionally earlier) and our second batch are mid or later afternoon.
Be in Venice or Treviso by 5pm - We cannot offer transfers to people arriving after 5pm, as we like to get everyone to resort in time for dinner and, if possible, This also allows us to have the ski/boot hire and skipass arrangements of most (if not all) of our guests in place before dinner. If you arrive by train at Venice Mestre please make your way to Venice Marco Polo Airport. Buses leave Venice Mestre Station for the airport every 30 minutes and the short journey takes 20 minutes.
Day of Departure – Expect an early start – we will try to leave after breakfast whenever possible but it cannot be guaranteed. Again, departure times are dictated by the flight times of all our transferees.
Venice & Treviso Hotels – many people choose to tag on a short stay in Venice or Treviso at one end of their holiday. Being in Venice already means you would make your own way to the airport to meet a transfer to resort. Click here to see how we can help with accommodation in Venice and for details of a few small hotels we can recommend.
Bristol & Liverpool – if you prefer to use Bristol or Liverpool airports, please see Option 2, as the Easyjet services from these airports to Venice are not compatible with our Venice transfer service.
Summary of how it Works
- You book your flight – we are happy to help and advise if required – see information on flight services below.
- Outbound Flight – make sure you land before 5.00pm.
- Homebound Flight – make sure you take off after 10am – later if at all possible.
- 10 days before your holiday we will contact you with your transfer times.
- It is not a taxi service and waiting can be unavoidable.
- If spending a night in Venice or Treviso (at either end of your holiday) helps with airport transfer logistics, then visit Hotels in Venice & Trevisoclose – print

Airport Transfers
Innsbruck – for Bristol, Liverpool (& Gatwick) Flights with Easyjet
How it works
We have introduced this service for people who like using Bristol and Liverpool airports. The flight times are good and Innsbruck is not far from our resorts in the Dolomites.
We charge £30 return per person and we will collect a minimum of 2 people.
Transfer Times - We will contact you 10 days before your holiday with the times of your transfers. As it happens, both the Bristol and Liverpool flights are scheduled to land mid morning, so waiting should be kept to a minimum.
Day of Departure- 5am departure from resort.
Possibility of Waiting – This is not a personal taxi service and waiting can be unavoidable. For example, if one flight is delayed, waiting becomes unavoidable for those who arrived on the other flight. Please do not book a transfer unless you are relaxed about the possibility of waiting. We can arrange car hire or taxi transport for you if you would prefer to eliminate the possibility of waiting.
Gatwick (& Rail Travellers) – We can also offer this service to people flying in from Gatwick provided they are on the earliest of the three flights, namely the one that takes off at 07.10. This coincides well with the Bristol and Liverpool service and helps us keep waiting to a minimum.Similarly, if you travel to Innsbruck by train or other means, we will be happy to offer you a transfer as long as you are ready to be picked up mid morning.
Summary of how it Works
(Airport Transfers – Innsbruck – for Bristol & Liverpool (& Gatwick)

Fly Drive
The people of the area know how to keep their roads open in winter and driving conditions are generally good. Road clearing after fresh snow is immediate and comprehensive, whilst gritting is regular and thorough.
So fly-driving is an option and we offer a safe, comprehensive and competitive car hire arrangement from any European destination. The following airports are within 5 hours of the Dolomites: Venice, Treviso, Verona & Innsbruck – less then 3 hours. Brescia, Milan, Bergamo & Munich – 4 hours. Contact us for a quote or visit our car hire page here.
If you are nervous about driving abroad, bear in mind driving conditions are generally excellent in this part of Italy. We send you detailed directions to your destination from whichever airport you hire a car at. On booking your holiday, we will send you car hire details with the relevant prices, car categories and other useful information. Just complete the form and return it to us and we take care of all the necessary administration thereafter. Your car hire voucher will be sent to you 3 weeks before departure along with step-by-step directions to your chalet. Payment for car hire is due with your holiday balance, 8 weeks prior to your departure. *Collett's can arrange car hire from any European airport or city. We can also arrange one way car hire within Italy – i.e. pick up at one airport, drop off at another. See Car Hire for more details.

Self Drive
Self-drivers should allow 12 hours from Calais via the impressive Brenner Pass and may want to include an overnight stop en route, although with more than one driver it is feasible to do the journey in one stint. As agents for Sea France Ferries and Eurotunnel, we will be happy to offer you favourable rates on Channel crossings.
Snow chains or winter tyres are essential if self-driving or fly-driving, as they are required by law on some mountain roads when snowbound
Click here for our best rates with Sea France
Summary of how it Works
- We are happy to help and advise if required – we can provide reccommendation on overnight stops and directions to the Dolomites.
- You drive up at a time that suits you.
- Collett's book your Channel Crossing or Tunnel Tickets.
Fly to Venice Marco Polo or Treviso
Flights to the Italian Dolomites
Our closest airports are Venice Marco Polo and Venice Treviso and it is to and from these airports that we offer free airport transfers. Obviously if you are happy to fly-drive, you can consider other airports such as Verona, Milan, Innsbruck and Munich. Nowadays it is probably best for you to book the flights online directly with the airline as early as possible. Prices in Winter 2007/08 with internet-based airlines often cost below £80 and were rarely more than £140. For an overview of low-fare airline prices, routes and timetables, try www.skyscanner.net This saves time, as you don’t have to scan numerous low fare sites. Here is some additional website and airport information. Rollover any of the Departure Airports below for further information.

Getting to and from the Dolomites by Train
Take the train to Venice
overnight via Paris
With people increasingly using train travel to move around Europe, here are some notes that might be helpful.
The train route to Venice goes via Paris.
Fairly soon you will be able to book trains from any major UK railway station to Venice Mestre or Venice Santa Lucia via the Eurostar website.
Currently, however, you can only book from London through to Venice . This can be done at www.eurostar.com
Other options include booking London/Paris using www.eurostar.com and then using www.raileurope.co.uk to book the second leg from Paris to Venice.
Unless you are staying in (or visiting) Venice, our advice is to disembark at Venice Mestre (every train stops there).
From here, you can hire a car or jump on a bus. They make the 15 minute bus trip to Venice Marco Polo Airport about every 30 minutes.
making your travel arrangements
Ultimately, you travel to the Dolomites exactly as you please. Please give us a call if you would like any further help or advice with your travel arrangements. Please contact us to check availability before you book your flights. We are happy to 'hold' accommodation if you need time to make travel arrangements or finalise plans with friends and family. On confirming, we will send you a booking form whilst holding the accommodation in your name. We will also send other documentation allowing you to pre-book skipasses etc. On return of the form with the relevant £75 per person deposit (payable by cheque or credit card), we will immediately reconfirm your booking. The final balance is due eight weeks prior to your departure.
