The Hotel Sonnenspitze is our sublimely-located base in Ehrwald. With a prime location in the village square for the past 100 years, shops and cafes are just a short walk away. The hotel enjoys magnificent views of the its namesake, the Sonnenspitze (2417m) the Zugspitze (2962m) and the Zugspitz Arena. Access to walks from the doorstep (or by local bus) is excellent and whichever direction you choose, you are soon in classic alpine landscapes. Strategically, this is good as it gets for a walking holiday.
The Hotel is managed with impeccable charm by the Pesendorfer family and, whilst rich in Austrian tradition, it now boasts many modern comforts and stylish features after a significant refurbishment over the last 4 years. Walking boots and mountain bikes are parked up casually at the hotel entrance, giving it a chilled, easy-going atmosphere that makes you feel at home. The Pesendorfers are proud of recent improvement: the new comfort rooms will take your breath away, but you will not be disappointed with a standard. A stunning new health spa and heated outdoor pool is now one of the many jewels in the hotel’s crown.
Guten Appetit! – the quality of the food here is undisputed and you will love the new dining room, in which guests of Collett’s have their own area. Immense choice awaits you at the extensive breakfast buffet and dinner is a gastronomic delight of 4 courses, including an abundant salad buffet. Nothing is too much trouble for the ever-helpful waiting staff.
The Team – Along with Daniel and his wonderful hotel staff, you will also enjoy the hospitality and support of our Walk Team, who are here to give you their local knowledge and help you with everything walks-related. They host Office Hour each early evening (except on Wednesday, the Staff Day Off), a popular Collett’s institution when guests can plan their following day’s walk over maps and a sociable pre-dinner drink with other guests. Our Walk Team are also around in the morning during and after breakfast, should you have any last-minute questions before you venture out.
